Epistaxis (from Greek επιστάζω (epistazo) to bleed from the nose: επί (epi) - "above", "over" + στάζω (stazo) - "to drip" ) or a nosebleed is the relatively common occurrence of hemorrhage from the nose, usually noticed when the blood drains out through thenostrils.
